*** LOWER RECEIVER:
SPECS: Precision machined to correct Mil-Spec from 7075-T6 forged Aluminum, with Mil 8625 Type 3 Class 2 Matte Black, Hard Coat Anodized Finish.
What this means to you is this lower receiver meets and exceeds all the various “Mil-Spec” standards for reliability, functionality, strength and compatibility. What’s more: these precision-manufactured receivers are emblazoned with our PTC Armory logo, featuring an American Patriot with his pistol and a rifle below.
*** UPPER RECEIVER:
SPECS: Precision machined to correct Mil-Spec from 7075 T6 Forgings extension with Laser Engraved T-Marks along Mil-Std 1913 Rail for mounting optics and accessories. M4 Feed Ramps. 8625 Type 3 Class 2 Matte Black, Hard Coat Anodized Finish.
What this means to you is the entire upper receiver has been precision machined to fit perfectly with the Mil-Spec lower receiver and M16 “full-auto” Bolt Carrier Group (BCG). But we didn’t stop there, because the Upper Receiver has been trued and then the barrel has been press fitted for maximum accuracy potential.
*** BARREL:
SPECS: 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium Steel, 5.56 NATO, 1-in-7 twist, 16″ Lightweight Performance Profile. HP and MPI tested, with QPQ Corrosion Resistant Exterior Finish and a Recessed 11 Degree Target Crown.
What this means to you is — quite simply – your lightweight barrel will have the maximum accuracy, reliability and longevity you want for a life-saving AR-15.
It’s precision machined to achieve a performance, lightweight profile in 16” length that is thicker near the chamber for balance and durability but thinner in profile towards the muzzle. In short, you get all the durability and heat mitigation benefits of a heavier barrel, but in a lightweight profile weighing a mere 28.2oz.
The Mil-Spec 1:7 twist means you can stabilize the absolute widest range of ammo, including the heaviest grain bullets (such as the MK262 77 grain “Sniper round” that can make hits at 1,000 yards) and all lighter 45gr, 55gr, and 62gr ammo…
It’s made of 4150 CMV “machine-gun grade” steel (the Mil-Spec standard) meaning instead of your barrel starting to lose accuracy or even keyholing after 5,000 to 10,000 rounds (like lesser, 4140 “standard gun shop AR-15” barrels depending on coatings) – your barrel will stay accurate all the way up to 30,000 to 50,000 rounds. A QPQ corrosion resistant exterior protects against the elements.
Finally, the Recessed 11-Degree Target Crown is part of what enables us to guarantee 1-MOA or better accuracy from your rifle.
*** GAS SYSTEM:
SPECS: Low Profile Pinned Gas Block, Mid-Length, Direct Impingement System.
What this means to you is you’re getting the best shootability, reliability, and recoil reduction available in a “carbine” package. Essentially, the longer the gas-system the more reliable the AR-15 platform, but because the 20” barrel and rifle gas of a full rifle is not ideal for a light, easily carried and maneuverable defensive rifle—our “Patrol Rifle” concept—the mid-length gas system with a 16″ barrel is the perfect solution (and any shorter of a rifle barrel is illegal without NFA paperwork, tax stamps, or pinning-and-welding a permanent muzzle device to your barrel). Direct Impingement (DI) was chosen over a Gas Piston system because it’s the Mil-Spec standard and offers greater part interchangeability, reliability, lighter weight, lower recoil and easy replacement parts in a “Grid down” scenario. And the low-profile Gas Block is properly pinned for reliability, and the entire gas system easily fits under the modern, slim handguard.
*** MUZZLE DEVICE:
SPECS: Removable Mil-Spec A2 Flash Hider.
What this means to you is this classic Mil-Spec Flash Hider does a great job at protecting your eyesight by diminishing the flash you see at night. It also works well to reduce your visual signature to anyone else (the enemy). Because we wanted to give you a choice to run other types of muzzle devices (if you decide you want to use a silencer or particular muzzle brake), the proven A2 Flash Hider is the perfect solution.
*** BOLT CARRIER GROUP (BCG):
SPECS: M16 Profile, Mil-Spec HPT and MPI tested and marked, “full auto” carrier machined from AISI 8620 aircraft quality steel, chrome lined, hard-chromed lined gas key and bore. Carpenter Technology 158 steel bolt. 4140 Steel Extractor. Mil-Spec O-ring, gas rings, 8740 steel firing pin with hard chrome finish.
What this means to you you get the maximum performance from what is probably one of the most important parts in the AR-15. Quite simply, you get the superior features and attributes of a truly Military Grade M16 Bolt Carrier Group (BCG). You get better reliability because of the proper cycle time of the rifle using this heavier “full auto” M16 Profile Bolt Carrier Group (BCG). Plus, the High-Pressure Testing and Magnetic Particle Inspection (HP/MPI) means you can trust your life to the reliability of this crucial part (the BCG is considered the “heart” of the rifle that often fails in lesser AR-15’s). Key features to also note are the full auto profile 8620 steel carrier is properly Mil-Spec chrome-lined, and a Carpenter Technology C-158 steel bolt, along with 8740 steel firing pin are utilized. What’s more: if there is ever a chance to convert to (legal) full-auto in the future—your BCG will be robust and ready.
*** BUFFER:
SPECS: Mil-Spec H2 Carbine Buffer.
What this means to you is the buffer and spring system works together with the entire mid-length gas system to give you added reliability with virtually any ammunition you fire (the entire system virtually eliminates over-or-under gassing problems). The H2 weight is optimal for this mid-length, 16” barrel, with Mil-Spec BCG. Plus, this particular H2 weighted buffer system helps reduce felt recoil as well, giving you a much flatter, straighter shooting rifle.
*** RECEIVER EXTENSION:
SPECS: Properly Staked Mil-Spec Carbine Receiver Extension (Buffer Tube). 6-Position machined from 7075T6. Hard Coat Anodized per Mil-A-8625F, Type III, Class 2.
What this means to you is you get the maximum adjustability for your height (or spouse and kids) along with a more reliable, lower-recoil rifle when this buffer tube is paired with the H2 buffer system. Mil-Spec receiver extensions have a slightly smaller dimension which only fits Mil-Spec compatible stocks (USGI, BCM, COLT, Magpul, etc). Because you get one more position of adjustment for length of pull (stock length) with 6 positions instead of 5 making it more versatile and adaptable to your height or the height of anyone who shoots it with just a quick adjustment. And it works with the specialized buffer and springs to reduce felt recoil even further. And like all the parts chosen for this rifle it functions alongside them to increase the total reliability of your rifle. Finally, the castle nut is properly staked per Mil-Spec guidelines.
*** SIGHTS:
SPECS: Magpul MBUS Back-Up, folding Sights front & Rear fully adjustable.
What this means to you is your rifle comes ready to shoot “as is” with these flip-up sights even though it features the M4 “flat top” style Mil-Std 1913 Rail for mounting optics and accessories. You can take it out right out of the box and start nailing targets out to hundreds of yards with these flip up sights!
What’s more: in the future if you decide to upgrade to an optics system (either red-dot or some type of scope) you can either “co-witness” with your red dot system… or… fold down the sights so they’re out of the way but can be quickly popped up into action if your optic fails as BUIS (Backup-Iron-Sights).
*** CHARGING HANDLE:
SPECS: Radian Raptor-LT Ambidextrous Charging Handle.
What this means to you is you get even more reliability and better ergonomics with this improvement over the Mil-Spec charging handle, plus easier ambidextrous manipulation (especially when using gloves). The Radian Raptor-LT handle has extended latches making it easier to operate your charging handle with one hand (without being too big that it catches on clothing, load-bearing-gear or is otherwise cumbersome when slinging the rifle). Raptor-LT handles are machined from 7075 aluminum, MILSPEC Type III hard anodized, then over-molded with high-strength, fiberglass reinforced polymer for the ultimate combination of strength, weight, and durability.
*** HANDGUARD:
SPECS: Midwest Industries G4 Low Profile 13.4” free float rail featuring Seven sides of M-LOK and five Anti-rotation QD Sling Sockets. 6061 Aluminum Type 3 Hard Coat Anodized.
What this means to you is you get lighter weight, more reliability, more accuracy, and more customization and accessory choices.
First, because this is a free-float rail, your barrel is not touched by the handguard which increases the accuracy of the rifle. This is especially important when bracing against objects to make accurate shots. Second, because this rail is rigid, yet lightweight, aluminum and free-floating (instead of the cheaper, non-free floating plastic handguards) it protects the delicate gas system which if its damaged, even slightly, can cause the AR-15 platform to malfunction.
This rail utilizes Magpul’s M-LOK™ standard for the direct attachment of accessories wherever YOU need them on your handguard, without having rails covering the entire gripping area (and with attachment points on 7 sides, the full 13.4” length gives you plenty of room). Finally, there are 5 integrated Anti-Rotation QD sling socket mounts included, so you can mount your sling however you prefer on the handguard.
In short, you have more control of how you want to customize your handguard, with one of the lightest and strongest rails available which protects and accurizes your rifle even more.
*** BUTTSTOCK:
SPECS: B5 BRAVO Stock.
What this means to you is, you get one of the most popular buttstock upgrades in use by Special Ops everywhere in the world. It builds upon the success of the B5 Systems Enhanced SOPMOD stock, but improved to be lighter, more compact and stronger. You get the same SOPMOD cheek weld, one-piece anti-rotation quick disconnect sling mount, no slip cushioned buttpad, and improved sure grip stock latch, but the Bravo is slimmer because it has no storage capacity and also angles the rear of the stock for quicker and more consistent mounting of the rifle.
*** PISTOL GRIP:
SPECS: B5 Systems Type 23-Grip increased vertical grip angle, aggressive texture, and extended tang to improve ergonomics and ensure proper trigger index.
What this means to you is you’re getting one of the most popular grips in use by operators the world over. Elite forces like this style grip because the more vertical grip angle works with well with carbine or shorter rifles. It also has a unique backstrap angle, aggressive texture, and ergonomics allowing you to get proper finger placement easier on the rifle—more consistently. Plus, the grip contains a storage core that can accept a plug to carry spare batteries for optics or other essentials!
*** TRIGGER:
SPECS: Geissele Automatics Advanced Combat Trigger (ACT).
What this means to you is you’re getting the absolute BEST “Mil-Spec style” trigger available! The ALG Defense Advanced Combat Trigger (ACT) is designed to mimic the Mil-Spec trigger, but improved in every way. The ACT trigger breaks sharper and the grittiness of the USGI trigger is removed. The pull weight is not lower than the M4/M16 minimum weight specification of 5.5lbs. Trigger and hammer are made from true 8620 alloy steel military specification castings, correctly carburized, quenched and tempered for high surface hardness. Disconnector is 1070 High Carbon steel properly Austempered into the spring range of hardness. Full-force springs (for positive ignition of all types of ammo) are corrosion resistant and meet military specifications. Trigger and hammer pins are improved over stock mild steel by using 4140 Chrome-Moly steel that has been quenched and tempered—then centerless ground to diameter 0.001” larger than stock to reduce play in the trigger assembly while retaining a slip fit into the lower receiver. Finally, “HardLubing” is ALG’s term for electroless Nickel plating with an integral modifier to the base nickel plate. Either Boron or Teflon is used to enhance surface hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance and also create favorable tribological properties of the trigger components—leaving the trigger a pleasing matte light grey color. (And if you don’t love it, it’s as simple as swapping out a stock trigger for your favorite upgrade.)
*** FINISH:
SPECS: Everything Mil Spec Anodized, then professionally Cerakoted matte black, unless otherwise noted
What this means to you is you get a rugged finish and the guarantee that your rifle will take almost any punishment you can give it and still look brand new. All the parts are precision machined and coated so that they still meet Mil-Spec measurements after their coating (a lot of cheaper manufacture’s parts are Mil-Spec dimensions after machining, before the hard-coating, but the coating slightly changes their dimensions making the entire rifle fit together “sloppy”). Finally, a professionally applied Cerakote finish is given to your entire rifle—it’s essentially a ceramic-based layer of “armor”—that protects against abrasion, weather, chemicals, and increases durability. In short, the finish on your rifle will last for years and years even under the toughest shooting and abuse you can throw at it.
